SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITIES
CRUX proudly partners with several organizations and initiatives in service of our mission and values.
Radical Climbing Festival
The Radical Climbing Festival centers individuals whose voices and bodies are not often represented as the face of rock climbing, yet are at the forefront of expanding access and affirming spaces for all climbers.
The gathering is designed as a space for climbers of color, adaptive climbers, LGTBQIA climbers with a specific focus on trans and nonbinary folks. The event brings together individuals for a weekend of learning, community-building, and of course, climbing.
New York State LGBT Health & Human Services Network
The New York State Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health & Human Services Network (The Network) is a coalition founded in 1994 and administered by The Center, consisting of 62 LGBT-specific and LGBT-supportive nonprofit organizations that provide care to LGBT New Yorkers and our families.
Together and United, we increase our shared capacity as LGBTQ+ specific organizations and programs to serve our communities through funding and legislative advocacy, capacity enhancement, and coalition building. As members of the New York State LGBT HHS Network, we aspire to increase the safety, freedom, quality of life, and wellbeing of every LGBTQ+ person in New York State.
#SafeOutside
#SafeOutside is an independent grassroots initiative designed to combat sexual harassment and sexual assault (SHSA). Organizations from climbing and outdoor communities around the world have joined forces to collect data, drive conversation, share best practices, provide press coverage and address the issues.
#SafeOutside's mission is to combat SHSA. Our first step is to collect data and create a safer space for conversation. We worked with nonprofit, industry and press organizations to generate awareness around SHSA, as well as to implement or refine processes and policies. Our experiences and work to date resulted in two major outputs: a report about SHSA in climbing that presents our collected data and its analysis, and a toolkit that includes templates, guidelines and best practices to help others collect their own data and address this issue. The report and toolkit are meant to be leveraged by anyone in any industry who may wish to combat SHSA.
